Boxer criticized Fiorina for "laying thousands and thousands of workers off, shipping jobs overseas, making no sacrifice while she was doing it and taking $100 million."
Fiorina should have thrown in right back in her face:
You're right, Senator. I did send thousands of jobs overseas. Do you have any idea why I did such a thing? Do you have any clue why hundreds of other companies do the same thing, Senator?
American companies outsource jobs because you and your colleagues in Washington, D.C., have actually made it more profitable for American companies to manufacture products anywhere but here. You have made it so expensive and so onerous to make any products here in the U.S.A., that it's actually cheaper to make computers, cars, appliances and just about anything else in foreign countries and then ship them here.
As the CEO, my duty was to get shareholders the greatest return on their investment. I fulfilled my duty, and I was rewarded for it.
As a U.S. Senator, your duty is to create jobs here in the U.S. You have failed, and failed miserably. That's why I'm asking California's voters to fire you.
If I'm elected, I will work to create jobs here. Unlike you, I understand why companies have sent jobs abroad. I will bring them back.Don't you think that would have been a good one? Fiorina should hire me to help her, if I do say so myself. All my arguments are made here in the U.S.A. by an authentic American. Passport shown upon request.

I was very disappointed that Fiorina said she supported the "Dream Act". As usual I have to
ReplyDeletehold my nose and vote.
Mr. Moore,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your focused and scathing counterpoint. You were the only one that in LA that I've had the honor of voting for with conviction. You have been one of the extremely few people I've ever contributed financially. I'm sorry that I have had to relocate out of state to rid myself of such politcal insanity.
Osok Ape
Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI wish you had taken my wife and me with you! : )
Mr. Moore, I am curious. Do you really think that tax breaks will bring companies running back to this country? It seems to me that they have profited so greatly from the cheap labor offered by other countries that no amount of incentives will bring them back. Maybe you have more faith in the rich than I do. I realize that every job does not warrant high pay and benefits, but it is not realistic to expect Americans to be paid third world wages and still be able to afford to live in even the poorest sections of this nation. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteTax breaks would be a START, not an end. You also have to make it easier for people to build factories; harder for them to be subjected to groundless lawsuits; and probably cut through a bunch of other red tape.
ReplyDeleteEven after you do all that, however, it's going to be more expensive to make things here than in places that allow horrible pollution, have no child labor laws, no safety protection for workers, etc. Now, rather than lowering our standards to whatever the worst working conditions are elsewhere, I think it would be fair to impose tariffs and import duties on countries that do NOT protect workers and the environment.
We have to balance protecting workers and the environment, on the one hand, with imposing so many burdens on employers that they just open factories elsewhere, on the other.
