Illegal immigration problem? What illegal immigration problem? I don't know what you're talking about.
I'm sure that, throughout America tonight, thousands of people gathered in public squares, along with all their local elected officials, to yell "Viva Mexico" and listen to Mariachi music, including singers praising "la raza." After all, what could be more American than to celebrate another country's independence day? And haven't we all practiced our "El Grito" yell? I know I sure have.
Here's some delightful video from Channel 7 ABC news showing the many local officials who participate, including Mayor Villaraigosa, who is the subject of three separate ethics investigations, and who called for "immigration reform" in Spanish, and City Councilman Richard Alarcon, who has been indicted and is awaiting trial on a lovely medley of felonies. After that, enjoy some Channel 11 Fox coverage, featuring interviews in Spanish because, you know, it's our job to learn their language, not vice versa, you xenophobic racist bastard, you:
To answer your headline question, it's like being at a mean bastard's funeral, you know the type...the man or woman, who in life you couldn't stand, had nothing good to say about, and would walk a mile out of your way to avoid bumping into him on the street.
ReplyDeleteEven his wife and kids had nothing good to say about him...until he died.
Then suddenly the bastard became a saint.
This is no different. They're here and suddenly the BastardMexico is SaintMexico. All the evil memories are gone, and it's the most delightful place to be from and be immortalized in nothing but fond, rosy memories.
Doug McIntyre's column in the Daily News on this issue is right on target. When he spoke on the same topic on his red eye radio broadcast last night he blames citizens for allowing this to happen. Question: Is it the citizen's fault? Another, Canada doesn't seem to have other country's parades in their streets, something is wrong.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard any Mexican/Spaniard apologize to the Gabrielenos and the Chumash for stealing their land and enslaving/killing their people - why not?
ReplyDeleteThey might as well celebrate Mexico here because large parts of our city have become almost indistinguishable from a handful of places I've visited in that nation.
ReplyDeleteIt's really alarming how quickly so much has gone downhill.
You may be surprised by this. WALTER IS MESSING WITH THE "EL GRITO" TRADITION! ;-) The downhill slide continues! These expenditures, by the council, have happened for at least 35 years and they probably forgot to give the $25,000 directly to The
