LA Weekly Article On Library Cuts Well Worth Reading

I highly recommend Patrick Range McDonald's latest article in the LA Weekly, "City of Airheads: Villaraigosa Dismantles L.A.'s Vaunted Library System."

McDonald documents how Villaraigosa, Garcetti and all the rest gutted the libraries while squandering millions of the so-called "anti-gang" programs that have yielded no measurable results, and on Villaraigosa's bloated staff.

McDonald also shows the sneaky accounting the Spring Street Gang has used to circumvent minimum funding requirements: they make the libraries "pay" the City for overhead.

The article is long but well worth reading, and provides insights that go far beyond the subject of libraries, and some really interesting statistics, too.
