Prosecutors Should Ask Villaraigosa How He Spent $111 Million

The City Controller has issued a press release saying that the Villaraigosa administration has spent $111 million in federal funds intended to create jobs -- specifically, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds -- and created just 55 jobs.

That works out to $2,018,181 per job.

If that's not a prima facie case of embezzlement, what is?

It's time for City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, District Attorney Steve Cooley, California Attorney General Jerry Brown and U.S. Attorney Andre Birotte to start investigating where all this federal tax money went. That money was supposed to create jobs, not vanish in a puff of corrupt smoke.

  1. The Controller could've told us more about how this money was allocated or diverted. If she could audit the cost and amount of Department of Transportation tracking devices, right down to their divisional location, then she has the tools at her disposal to trace OUR money, down to the last DPW project account. If this money is not being spent as intended, then where the hell did it go, and who did it go to?

Question: When did the City know that these funds were coming?

I heard rumors of this federal stimulus money since before the last Coalition of City Union concessionary contracts was signed on or about December of 2009.

  2. I myself have documented quite of few of the boondoggles with this money, e.g., to put on dance performances. That's no way to get the economy going. It's a rip-off, pure and simple, for politically connected cronies. But the oblivious voters of L.A. really don't give a damn. The media won't wake them up. Instead, we just get "reports" on anything that creates a good visual image to project behind an anchor.

  3. Several former L.A. City and County Hacks made their way into the Obama White House: "TMex", Saenz, and Hilda Solis. With 717 BILLION authorized to waste in Jan 2009, it is actually an INSULT that L.A. ONLY GOT 111 Million! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 10-15 TIMES THAT AMOUNT. But Villar campaigned for Hilary, and Obama took a dim view of Villar. Also, the Clowncil was far too slow in Stimulus requests while other Cities were quick to grab more $$$ with the proper lobbying teams in place to do it.
We got cheated out of what we should of gotten.
2 new freeways should of come to L.A. at a minimum, instead of some God Damn "widening project" B.S. on the 405.
But 70% of all you guys are registered as Democrats and every time, you simply take your ballot, look for the guy with the (D) next to it, and punch the hole for him! Your votes are thus automatic and predictable, thus we'll keep getting the table scraps while other communities where elections ARE CONTESTED will get the goodies WHILE WE PAY FOR IT.
But you guys can't stop voting Liberal, you MUST.
Why? No one knows for sure.
But historians will (I've said this before) for decades write about these times of INSANITY we're living in. It's the AGE OF INSANITY. You keep reelecting the abject failures we have in office OVER AND OVER AND OVER....AGAIN AND AGAIN. Why? You DON'T KNOW, but you're somehow PROGRAMED to do it. Try this: Take the next ballot and vote all Republican down the ticket and against every incumbant and Yes to end the Global Warming Scam. Can you? NO! Your hands will shake, you'll break out in a cold sweat, you'll possibly faint trying this!
You're voting yourselves a one way ticket to living in a cardboard box. You don't see it (yet.) But, you're slowly beginning to sense a tiny problem exists. (Actually it's the 2nd Great Depression in the last 80 years) but, hey, no big deal, right?

  4. Walter, it's very simple. Democrats cannot be trusted with money. Villar had already spent that $111M before the ink was dry on the check. But at least he can point to 55 'new' jobs at $2M each to show the money did not end up solely buying his favorite Chateau Petus for his elite table.

Villar is not the only democrat who has a problem with money. The LA Slimes is asking San Francisco liberal democrat Kamala Harris to "Show Me The Money" over $3.7M of federal grant funds that she got to prosecute 'border crimes." The Feds did an audit (there's a surprise) and could not find a single case that met the grant criteria. Of course, you do have wonder at the wisdom of the feds in giving border crime money to a sanctuary city, but that's no excuse.

  5. Wendy Gruel was on KABC this morning and actually the stimulus funds were more like 660 MILLION TOTAL of which 111 Million was for "transportation funds." Then it was revealed there are GPS units MISSING from a separate 1.5 million contract of which none of these GPS units were put on the City's cars!
City Hall is now A CRIME SCENE! It should be surrounded by yellow tape, sealed off to all City Employees, and thoroughly searched by the Feds ONLY. THE OTHER 49 STATES WOULD LIKE THEIR 660 MILLION BUCKS ACCOUNTED FOR! (Californians are busy spending their EBT funds and filling out their Medical Pot Paperwork right now to worry too much about this.)
Maybe California will get voted out of Statehood by the rest of the Nation? You see, if they do a real Census count (a first since 1800) Besides Walter and a few dozen others, the rest of California is all non-citizens. In Bell, only 48 people voted to enable those pay raises. That's out of a population of like 33,000 folks! And only 1 guy spoke English out of those 48.
Cities in California are becomming 3rd world colonies! Maywood (99% non-citizen), next to Bell was actually bankrupted first and taken over by Bell. Then they were looted by several White people living in huge homes in the O.C!
L.A. City is right there now. Like Bell and Maywood, the productive people (non-welfare mooches and business owners, aka "The Greedy")
are chased out, and supplanted by welfare mooches and crime. Meanwhile, Politicians take the place over and gut it of services, infrastructure, and private industry BEFORE the DEFAULT PERIOD (when the City misses its bond payments.)
Best Guess on the 111 million (well acutally 660 million): USED TO PAPER OVER THE CITY'S DEFAULT PERIOD! PERIOD. Problem: July 1, 2011: City will have a 1.1 BILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT.

  6. Jerry Brown investigates Bell, but turns a blind eye to Los Angeles. The old adage must once again come to use regarding Brown investigating anything..."like the fox guarding the hen house". But then Brown couldn't competently investigate his navel.
