Today's Random Rip-Off Of You, The Taxpayer

Have you gotten a thank-you card yet from Marco Contreras and Olga Contreras? Me, neither, which is surprising, because you and I gave them quite the generous Christmas gift: $48,423 of our tax money.

Villaraigosa and the Spring Street Gang squander your money so fast that yours truly, who actually has to work for a living, can't keep track of it. But from time to time I take a random look at the City's contract website.  You can, too:  click here.

Today I noticed the $48,423 "contract" which is really nothing more than a gift. The recipients apparently don't speak English, insofar as they filled in the blanks for the date with the word "Deciembre" rather than "December."

The "contract" provides that they get our money as "purchase assistance" for a house, but they don't have to pay it back in monthly installments, and they don't have to pay it back with interest. Indeed, they don't have to pay anything back unless they sell the house at a profit. What do you want to bet that, when the time comes, they sell it to cousin Jimmy at a loss, and then cousin Jimmy re-sells at a profit?

Here's another interesting tidbit: the online version of the contract -- which is supposed to be posted to provide "transparency" so you and I can see how we're being ripped off -- was not only scanned in reverse order, but is missing the odd-numbered pages. The dedication to excellence downtown apparently did not include noticing all the text on the back of each page.

And remember, this is just one of dozens of "contracts" per day to redistribute your hard-earned money to people with political connections, without any benefit to you or the public interest. I don't have time to get into the boondoggles involving the Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company, the Kwanzaa Heritage Foundation, or Mafia Papers, Inc.

Bottom line:  You need to shake up the City Council by electing some new people in March 2011, and you need to vote against any and all proposals to increase your taxes.

  1. My God!

LA has become so corrupt that corruption has become as acceptable as air. But look who the voters are down there now. It's not you Walter, and it's not the Shaws, and Barron,etc...It's Julio, Javier, Rudolpho, Maria, and Elisio, who just arrived from meckseeco, and that's the political system down there. But wait a minute...this is going on in congress too, and has been for some time; remember the ethics committee? That never went too far in congress...Jim Wright and such. LA is just more or less a confirmation that we've imported enough corrupt third world citizens that Congress can bring back the Jim Wrights and operate in the open

  2. Whose idea was it to give Olga and Marco a house? Oh, it was Santa Claus who is a friend of the Spring St. sitters. Never mind if they can't speak English, most of their relatives{voters} can't either. Of course Marco took time off from his job to sign the contract, but he drove super fast to get back and pick up the food stamps.

  3. Wayne from Mexico, again.December 31, 2010 5:14 PM

So, I see Encino and L.A. is being not sold but GIVEN AWAY to Mexico via the Council! MOTOR-VOTER explains alot of it, as any person who gets a CDL also registers to vote AUTOMATICALLY no matter what.
Then in the mail they can check the box for PERMANENT mail-in voter status, and WHAMMO! Then the City Hall pigs keep handing out funds like this Contract and everyone votes by mail even when they're not citizens!
    Here's a great one:
TODAY I get what appears a small envelope with junk mail---OOPS! It's the City's business license renewal form in a new fold-over style mailer to LOOK LIKE JUNK MAIL. How many people will toss it away, then come Feb. 2011 FORGET to refile---thus CITY HALL GETS ALL THAT EXTRA $$$ IN PENALTIES AND INTEREST FROM THE TAXPAYERS TO GIVE TO THE ILLEGALS!!!
THE RENEWAL WAS ALWAYS A BIG 8 X 11 ENVELOPE EASILY SEEN. But not now.
AND GET THIS ONE: According to the mailer, in May 2010, TWO NEW INTERNET BUSINESS TAX "CATEGORIES" WERE CREATED. Then Legal Zoom earlier this year high tailed it out of Hollywood to Glendale and Kevin James wouldn't explain why, just saying the "City's anti-business climate?" WTF??? Legal Zoom was a sponsor of Kevin's show, now I don't think they are. What are the chances Legal Zoom asked Kevin to speak to Trutanich to shelve the new Internet Business Tax category and Nuch gave Kevin the big finger salute? HA HA HA! We'll the Council passed a city business tax on "Internet Providers" thus MORE AND MORE JOBS MOVIN' ON OUT OF L.A!

  5. Anonymous 5:52, Sabes que? Deciembre is December in Spanish. Como Walter dijo, The recipients apparently don't speak English, insofar as they filled in the blanks for the date with the word "Deciembre" rather than "December."

In my opinion, the city shouldn't be in the business of "lending" money if the bank wouldn't do the "loan" for the full amount. The possibility of default is too great and these are taxpayer dollars being given out as gifts!

Wayne, which part of Mexico are you from, primo? Maybe we can hook you up with Miguel "I even got a DUI" Santana so you can get a loan too.
