Would be CHEAPER for Safeco to pay the claim than spend 2-3 times that amount on all those $600/hour Century City Lawyers! Of course if the State of California had an insurance Commish with some Balls, he would pull their license from selling more of these policies to homeowners! Then sue their asses for the ones who still have pending claims, so the Moore's wouldn't have to fund this battle vs. a multipe BILLION DOLLAR GIANT! That would be the workings of a true Democracy, something L.A. hasn't seen since Teddy Roosevelt was in the White House!
