L.A. Republican Party Needs "Plan B" If Hahn Goes To D.C.

That the Republican Party of Los Angeles County is supporting Craig Huey in his race against Janice Hahn is well and good, but do Republicans have a "Plan B?"

In other words, assuming Hahn wins the election, do the Republicans have a viable candidate ready to run to replace her on the City Council of America's second-biggest city?

I'm guessing "no." I hope they prove me wrong, and come forward with a really good candidate that people of all political persuasions can support. Someone competent and ethical would be a nice change on the City Council, don't you think?

  1. I believe you are correct. I have not heard of any names being bounced around to replace her.

  2. Walter, "Someone competent and ethical would be a nice change on the City Council" would be virtually unheard of in the recent history of Los Angeles politics, although to be fair, so far CD2's Paul Krekorian seems to come as close as can be to that ideal.

But as for Janice Hahn's seat, rumors are that City Attorney Carmen Trutanich has plans to field his son, Nick Trutanich, for the position. Trutanich Jr has a good resume for politics; young, handsome an Assistant US Attorney, and the family connection to San Pedro finest export won't hurt either.

He also apparently has a war record, at least according to Carmen who recently told listeners to the Kevin James Show that his son just got back from Iraq, injured. Oh, slight detail, despite the way Carmen characterized the injury, Nick is not a military veteran. It seems he was in Iraq working for the Dept. of Justice and the injury he sustained was a sports injury, not sure if it was basketball or football ...

There is NO plan B---if Hahn wins and becomes a Member of Congress, that's a Biblical Sign of the End! VOTE HUEY!!! Then Hahn is TERMED OUT AND 2013 WILL BE TIME TO VOTE IN A NEW CLOWN IN cd 15.

  4. Kevin James For Mayor. Walter Moore can use a fictitious address in Hahn's district so he can take her seat! Hey, if Alarcon can do it why ... Oh, that's right. Sorry. You said "someone competent and ethical" and taking a council chair while not actually living in the district is a criminal act!

How about a Chief Assistant Mayor position. Chief of Staff, maybe before you ascend to the mayor's job?

  6. If this scenario plays out that way, I'll be supporting Rudy Svorinich.
He is a good man and has a great chance to win that seat.
