I'm as sympathetic to the Occupy L.A. protestors as the next guy. But that does not include my wanting to give them my hard-earned money.Villaraigosa, however, plans to give them your money and mine by "leasing" them 10,000 square feet of office space that belongs to you and me for just $1 per year. One dollar per year?! Hey, Mr. Mayor, I'll pay ten times that amount for 10,000 square feet.
Read about the latest taxpayer ripoff in the L.A. Times.
Hey, you think any of the occupiers even knows that City Hall provides hundreds of millions of dollars per year of welfare for the rich? L.A. is "ground zero" for crony capitalism. And guess who pays for it? You and I, friend. You and I.
POST-SCRIPT:
City Hall's hypocrisy is pretending to support the "Occupy Wall Street" movement is creepy and breath-taking. Just six days ago, these same politicians passed a tax break, not for the working people of Los Angeles, but for MUTUAL FUNDS!
Almost sounds like antonio's trying to take advantage of the Occupiers, by using the M.O. he uses on his "anti-gang" programs. Just another way to funnel millions of our taxpayer dollars to his politically connected wealthy supporters.
ReplyDeleteThey, the occupiers, have until midnight tonight to pull up stakes. The shoppers may be bothered them. It will be interesting to see if they fold up their tents and go or not. The mayor has something to worry about.
ReplyDeleteTonite on KABC John Phillips show, mayoral candidate Kevin James said, "...folks are looking for someone who is willing to make the right decision…" Well, Villaraigosa fails at that meserably. A while back at a news conference, Villaraigosa said, “...and that’s why I was elected, to make the tough decisions.” Well, this Occupy event, is another confirmation, that Villaraigosa’s only concern, is gathering votes for future public office.
ReplyDeleteVillaraigosa has deliberately refused, at minimum, to have instructed Police Chief Beck, to enforce chapters 4 and 5 of our municipal code, which address code violations at this event, on the first nite the protesters tried to set-up camp.
Mayoral candidate Kevin James, is the only candidate that is not part of City Hall’s dynasty.
I agree that our Mayor has, once again, demonstrated the way that he deals with issues; he throws money at it. Trouble is, that's it's not his money....it's the taxpayers money. The Mayor just doesn't have the leadership skills to be a competent civic leader and accepted a job that was way over his head. He now is feeling the pressure to leave with some kind of positive legacy, but is running out of time and subject matter to spin positively, for the media. Too much of too little....way too late.
