Villaraigosa has come up with a brilliant idea for encouraging employers to move into Los Angeles: cut the extra tax burden that the City imposes on top of federal and state taxes.
Hey, why didn't I think of that when I was running for Mayor? Oh, you're right: I did. And yet, the local media did not deem my campaign worthy of coverage until election night.
Alas, this is too little, too late. You can't simply cherry-pick particular companies for subsidies or tax breaks. You need to eliminate L.A.'s extra taxes across the board, for all employers.

Yup! Walter was the author of: repeal the City's business tax which drives employer's out of town!
ReplyDeleteYeah, sure - now that Antonio's leaving office, acting like he came up with such a great idea!
Damn, I wish I had a podium 7 years ago. So I could have alerted the voters of what a militant character he's always had. He and I grew up in the same neighborhood, attended Cathedral High, where he was asked not to return back to school. Back, during the disturbances, the late instructor Brother Casper said to me, "Barron, their not making Mexicans like they used to."
